Creators: The Past

Creators: The Past is an Italian science-fiction fantasy film directed by Piergiuseppe Zaia, released in 2019. Conceived as the first chapter of a trilogy, it features William Shatner, Gérard Depardieu, Bruce Payne and Eleonora Fani in a story of alien Creators, a Galactic Council of eight, who steer humanity’s fate as a planetary alignment approaches.

An independent science-fiction epic of this scope inverts the usual ratio: here the environment is the effect. Films of this shape need fully built CG worlds and set extensions, matte-painted vistas and cosmic backdrops, particle and energy simulation for the powers the characters wield, and character animation for non-human presences. Every performer requires precise keying, edge treatment and rotoscoping before compositing can seat them inside a synthetic space and light them to match it. Terminal FX contributed visual effects and animation to the production within its film, television and commercial portfolio.
