Getaway

Getaway is a 2013 American action thriller directed by Courtney Solomon and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It stars Ethan Hawke as a former race-car driver forced to follow a mysterious caller’s orders, alongside Selena Gomez and Jon Voight. With his wife abducted, he is kept behind the wheel of a stolen Shelby Mustang for most of a single night.

A thriller staged almost entirely from behind a windscreen shifts the burden onto preparation and cleanup. Camera rigs, mounts and tow vehicles have to be painted out; plates from multiple in-car arrays are stitched into one continuous drive; and reflections and interior light are matched so a composited exterior reads as real glass. Beyond that sit collision and pyro simulation, accumulating vehicle damage, tyre smoke and glass debris, plus city environments extended or replaced wherever the chase outruns what was practical to shoot. Terminal FX brings together that mix of FX simulation, environment building and precision compositing, and contributed visual effects and animation to Getaway as part of its film, television and commercial portfolio.
