The Lost Tribe

The Lost Tribe is a 2010 American horror film directed by Roel Reiné, in which a group of shipwreck survivors are stranded on a remote island inhabited by a predatory ancient tribe. It features Lance Henriksen, Emily Foxler, Nick Mennell and Brianna Brown.

A survival horror built around something waiting in the trees front-loads its creature work: design, modelling, rigging and character animation, with fur, skin and muscle simulation so a predator moves with real weight, then gore effects and digital prosthetics for what it leaves behind. Jungle plates are punishing to composite — dense foliage means extensive rotoscoping, and light has to be matched through a shifting canopy. Add atmospheric haze, blood FX and set extensions for the island interiors and the shape of the job is clear. Terminal FX works in creature and character animation, simulation, roto and cleanup, and compositing, and contributed visual effects and animation to The Lost Tribe, one of the film, television and commercial titles the studio has worked on.
