Lucky Strike

Lucky Strike is a 2026 American war thriller directed by Rod Lurie and inspired by true events from the Battle of the Bulge. It follows an injured American soldier cut off behind German lines during the last major Nazi offensive of the war, left with little more than a portable radio and his wits, and stars Scott Eastwood, Colin Hanks, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Taylor John Smith. It opened in the United States in June 2026.

Combat set in the Ardennes winter of 1944 leans hard on FX simulation: artillery bursts, mortar impacts, tracer fire, muzzle flashes, smoke and drifting snow, all of it built to carry the weight of real ordnance. Armour and troop columns are extended or replaced outright with CG vehicles and digital doubles, while matte painting and environment work turn present-day forest into an occupied front line. Rotoscoping, rig removal and squib enhancement keep the violence convincing and the unit safe. Terminal FX contributed visual effects and animation to Lucky Strike, part of the studio’s film, television and commercial portfolio.
