Mamnik

Mamnik (Мамник) is a Bulgarian drama-horror television series directed by Viktor Bozhinov, written by Vladislav Tinchev and Dimitar Hristov-Kevin and adapted from the bestselling novel by Vasil Popov. The twelve-episode production for BNT stars Ekaterina Lazarevska as border police officer Bozhana Gorneva, alongside Mariyan Stefanov, Vladimir Penev and Yordan Rasin. In an isolated village on the Bulgarian border, a chain of unexplained deaths pulls the investigators toward a predatory figure out of local folklore.

Folk horror grounded in a real landscape depends on restraint. It calls for atmospheric simulation — mist, smoke, breath and the darkness under a forest canopy — for creature and character animation built around something the camera must never fully reveal, for digital prosthetics and the extension of practical make-up effects, and for patient rotoscoping and cleanup so rigs, wires and modern intrusions disappear from a village meant to feel outside time. Terminal FX contributed visual effects and animation to Mamnik as part of its film, television and commercial portfolio.
