Scoop is a 2024 British drama film directed by Philip Martin for Netflix, dramatising how BBC Newsnight secured its 2019 interview with Prince Andrew. Adapted from Sam McAlister’s memoir Scoops, it stars Gillian Anderson as Emily Maitlis, Rufus Sewell as Prince Andrew, Billie Piper as McAlister and Keeley Hawes as private secretary Amanda Thirsk, tracing the months of negotiation behind a single televised conversation.

When a film restages events its audience watched on the news, the effects have to be forensically invisible. The work concentrates on set extension and digital architecture to place Buckingham Palace and Broadcasting House around locations that only partly match, archival integration and screen replacement so period-correct broadcast material sits cleanly inside newsroom monitors, modest crowd and vehicle augmentation for London exteriors, and meticulous rotoscoping and cleanup to remove anything that dates the plate to the wrong year. Terminal FX contributed visual effects and animation to Scoop, one of the film, television and commercial projects in the studio’s portfolio.
